Membership Eligibility - Who Can Join the Society

Membership in the Society is open to individuals who are:

(a) corporate secretaries and assistant secretaries of companies; or
(b) persons with duties related to the corporate secretarial, governance, ethics or compliance functions within their companies; or
(c) persons with firms that provide services to the functions noted above (e.g. proxy solicitors, governance consultants, software providers, transfer agents, financial printers, registered agents, and attorneys in private practice).

Society members need not hold the title of "Corporate Secretary" or "Governance Professional" or have a legal background.

Because membership in the Society is held by the individual rather than the corporation, a member's status is not affected by changes in duties, company affiliation or retirement.
